I enjoy the new year. A fresh start. A way of moving forward and letting go of things in the past. Our sisters, however, should not be forgotten. As we approach a new year, I encourage you to call the role of all your members, even those members who have gone inactive.
Reading the inactive list out loud at a chapter meeting isn’t meant to be negative; it is a time to remember who went inactive and to consider reaching out to them to see if they are ready to come back.
Remember: “Once a P.E.O., Always a P.E.O.!!” We need to remember those sisters who have gone inactive, whether it was just last year or ten years ago. These sisters left P.E.O. life for various reasons and could be ready to reinstate.
This is a chance for you as a chapter sister (or for a group of chapter sisters) to reach out to your inactive sisters. Meet for coffee or lunch or a place where you can get together face to face. Talk about what and how your chapter is doing. Invite her to your chapter’s social time. She may or may not be ready to rejoin chapter life. If you don’t reach out and ask, how are you going to know if she misses our P.E.O. sisterhood?
Please reach out to your inactive sisters and bring them back into the fold. Bring them home.
