Kansas P. E. O. Sunflower Grants

Established 1971

Purpose: To provide one-time grants to Kansas residents (men, women or children) in financial distress and unable to find sufficient help from other sources.

Deadlines: Feb. 1, May 1, Oct. 1

The origin and evolution of our Sunflower Grants has always intended to fulfill the spirit of compassion. The desire to build a retirement home for needy Kansas P.E.O.’s became unattainable after several years of collecting money from Kansas chapters’ dues. So in 1971 with seed money from the Home Fund, Sunflower Grants was created to provide a helping hand to Kansas citizens of any age or gender for a specific need. The concept was to provide financial help to an individual after all other avenues of assistance had been explored—Sunflower Grants would be a last resort rather than the first option for help.
